Abstract

Immersive technologies are a set of tools and platforms that create or enhance experiences by immersing users in a virtual or augmented environment. Technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) promote immersion due to their interactive nature. This course explains the technological basis behind these immersive technologies and current hardware and systems. It also gives an overview of immersive content creation and interactive applications with their tools and standard workflow. Finally, selected applications demonstrate a broad field of utilization of immersive technologies, from entertainment to education and training, healthcare, and many, many more.
