111 – Mobile Communication
Ivan Pravda
Annotation

The study material overviews the basic principles used in the most common generations of mobile systems and networks. It introduces the key characteristics of various wireless technologies implemented in mobile networks, such as GSM, CSD, HSCSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, LTE/LTE-A, 5G, etc.

Objectives

The interpretation within the module is based on the 2nd generation of mobile systems, i.e. digital (cellular) systems of the GSM type. The student will become familiar with the issue of mobile networks and get a concrete idea of the functional arrangement of modern mobile networks and the principle of operation of their individual parts.
